Students Show Off Their Side Hustles at the 3rd Annual Side Hustle Expo
On Thursday, April 11, students from all over campus (and a wide variety of disciplines) came together in the Danna Center to show off their stuff at the Side Hustle Expo!
Now in its third year, the Side Hustle Expo is one of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Community Development's premier on-campus event that sparks innovation and creativity among the Loyola University New Orleans community by meeting students where they are and showcasing the exciting side hustles, hobbies, and startups that students operate. The event is part pop-up shop and part science fair, with students presenting their ideas, businesses, and side hustles for a shot at $1,500 in scholarships.
After a panel of judges from the Center's Professional Advisory Board met with each presenter, the scores were tallied and a clear winner emerged - rising sophomore Kat Lee and her company Roll Reptile, which breeds and sells rare and exotic reptiles, tropical plants, and corals. Two runners-up included graduating senior Austyn Maylynn with her board game, Drunk & Board, as well as rising sophomore Chance Kittrell and his sneaker-resale company, Northshore Sneakers.
Whether they're musicians, producers, reptile breeders, sneaker heads, artists, students at Loyola University New Orleans are setting the world on fire with their ideas and their side hustles - we can't wait to see what they share at next year's event
